Pin-Hole Camera
Pin-hole camera = a very simple camera with no lens. A pin-hole camera is made of a light-weight box that has a very small aperture.
There are four important/necessary parts of a camera the lens, camera body, shutter, and aperture. 1. Shutter = is the device that limits the exposure of light at specific period of time. 2. Lens = is the part of the camera (or an attachment for the camera) that focuses light into the camera body and onto the film. 3. Camera Body = is the frame that holds the film and the camera controls. 4. Aperture = is an adjustable opening in the lens that is used to allow light onto the film.

Foil used for camera
When we made the pin-hole camera we used a "Quakers Oatmeal" box. When we got everything together we cut a hole out of the bottom of the box and put foil over it. Then we taped down the foil and used a pin to poke a hole for the aperture, small enough to allow only a tiny bit of light into the camera. For the shutter we used the lid to the oatmeal box. When we needed to use the shutter we would just cover the aperture with the lid. To get the photo paper in the camera James went into the dark room, where he cut the photo paper to fit inside the camera. When he took the picture out of the camera he had to be careful to not touch the developed side or expose it to light. He then put the picture into a dark bag and then into a black box.
We took a picture of a outside by the shop building. We held the shutter open for 60 seconds and then closed the shutter to keep the film from being exposed.
